Park at Birchover either on the road or near the Druid's Inn (GR237622). Start the walk by crossing the road and heading for the Birchover Millennium Stone near the signpost. Walk up the hill through the woods.

You'll come to a car park opposite the quarry works. Looking to your left reveals this view. Turn left here and head up Birchover Road for approx. 1/2 mile. Cross the road, head between two large rocks with a signpost (GR242627) and head to a stile. Cross and walk up on to Stanton Moor.

Whilst walking you will pass the Cork Stone (GR244626) on your left and the remains of an old quarry. You can now see for some miles from this vantage point. Follow the path which then brings you to a crossroad's (GR246626). Here turn left and head across heathered moorland. The walking is fairly easy on the feet here. Fine views of the valley can also be seen.

You will arrive at the Nine Ladies stone circle (GR248635). It is thought that this was erected around 1500BC. Head onwards for another 50 metres and turn right to a stile. Climb over and walk with the fence on your right towards the monument to Earl Grey (GR251633). The path past the monument is quite twisty and comes to an outcrop of rocks. A good view of the valley can be seen here. Turn right and quickly left and follow the path for just over 1/2 mile. The path ends at Lees Road (GR246625), a small fairly unused road.

Turn right here. This road joins the main Birchover Road. Turn left down the hill and on to Birchover. For more refreshments, the local shop and the Red Lion Inn can be found higher up the road in Birchover.
